“Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s well-being. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual.”
(Definition approved by the Australian Kinesiology Association 1999.)
Kinesiology uses a unique combination of complementary therapies and muscle monitoring to help the body to self-heal and release physical, mental and emotional stress. Due to its holistic nature Kinesiology is able to assist in most areas of health and wellbeing. Goal of any Kinesiology “balance” is to identify underlying cause(s) of any imbalance and resolve them. However, it does not treat, diagnose or prescribe for acute medical illness.
Holistic Kinesiologists use muscle monitoring to test muscle resistance, which provides them with information from the subconscious about what is happening within the body, mind and spirit. After locating and identifying core issues of stress and disharmony which block the body’s natural healing processes, a wide range of complementary therapies can be used to help balance these issues and therefore the body and mind.
These techniques may include:
Because of its holistic approach Kinesiology can help with:
Some benefits form a kinesiology balance include:
A lot of clients feel very relaxed and a great sense of calmness after a session. Although it is important to mention that during a balance also less comfortable feelings can be stirred up temporarily as the issues are brought to the surface for the client to work through. In a way it is like peeling an onion and finding more or less layers underneath the surface.
Origin of Kinesiology
Muscle monitoring was originally developed by George Goodheart (a chiropractor) in the early 1960's, when hediscovered the relationship between Chinese meridians and muscle groups, organs, and glands in the body. John Thie worked with this approach and introduced it in “Touch for Health” as Kinesiology to the public. Since then, many different approaches have been written, courses been put together internationally and nationally. In Australia the firstgovernment accredited diploma in Kinesiology was established by the Kinesiology House in Melbourne. Since 2002 does the College of Complementary Medicine in Sydney offers International and Australian government accredited courses.

What happens in a session?
Each session is personalized to the individual needs of the client, empowering and helping them to find their own natural life balance.
In the first session we go through the personal medical and lifestyle history to get a picture of presenting issues. With the help of a mixture of muscle monitoring, counselling and other techniques, Ines will work on treating the key issues the client wants to work on. Techniques can include acupressure, Chakra healing, sound therapy etc.
At the end of the session, you might get some homework (example: positive affirmations, relaxation techniques) to reinforce and support your healing process.
How many sessions would I need?
The number of sessions is unique and depend completely on the client and complexity of the issue addressed. I like to work with someone for 4-5 sessions, which seems to offer significant improvement for most issues. That way I can get to the true cause of the presenting issue. Just imagine an onion and finding more or less layers underneath the surface.
But as said in the beginning, each person is unique, so you might require less or more sessions. We will talk about this at the end of the first session.
Appointments are usually spaced around 4-6 weeks, to allow time for the changes to integrate.
